40th Anniversary Mural

As you know, we are all celebrating the 40th year of our school. One of the projects is the creation of a huge mural for the hall. The aim is to encompass all the features of the school remembered by pupils, staff and friends, past and present.
We would value any contributions from you. It is important to us that we visually represent the whole 40 years life of the school. You can get involved by :
<> Sending in any photos or drawings of your memories.
<> Sending in or e-mail any written highlights, memories, prayers, etc
<> Joining us at school for a practical afternoon workshop on Friday 14th May. 2pm - 4.30pm.
If you are able to contribute in any way, please can you do so as soon as possible. If you are able to come to the workshop, please e-mail Mrs Eatwell or notify the school. (Before 7th May please) Please note that the workshop is aimed at ADULTS.

Les Slinn to run the Marathon Des Sables

As you maybe be aware I am running in next April's Marathon Des Sables, please click on the link to see what I’m putting myself through! Click here

The race is over 7 days, 240km through the Sahara desert with temperatures of over 40 degrees. Blisters, dehydration and fatigue are all there to slow you down. You also have to carry all your own food, cooking utensils, sleeping bag, clothing and survival kit including a flare and anti venom pen. I’ve seen pictures of competitor’s feet during and after the race and some have trouble standing let alone run, so all in all it will be a massive test for me. Like a previous competitor stated, 'if the Sun don’t get you the snakes or scorpions might!!!!'

I decided that If I was going to do such a mad event I need to do it for charity. I have chosen two local ones, firstly the Swindon Therapy centre for MULTIPLE SCEROSIS centre who are about to move into new premises so they can help more people from Swindon and the surrounding area have a better quality of life. They rely on donations to keep them going, so please could you dig deep and help? As one day it may be you or a family member who may need their help. Please click on the link to help:
Just Giving: raising money for Swindon Therapy Centre For Multiple Sclerosis

The second charity is local Swindon Children’s Down Syndrome, Did you realise a £10 donation would pay for a weeks Speech and Language Therapy for 1 child with Down's Syndrome. One of the greatest barriers for children with Down Syndrome in assessing their local community is a difficulty in speech and language. If you could help please click on the link:
Just Giving: raising money for Swindon Down's Syndrome Group

I intend to raise as much money as I can to help both these charities and will keep you all informed of my training progress. I will also be organising other fundraising events such as Paintball, Raffles, Quiz nights, to help with funds so that both these charities can continue the good work that they do.
I would very much appreciate your support. Thank you. Les Slinn
