St. Catherine’s is a thriving Catholic Voluntary Aided School situated to the north-east of Swindon. The school was built by St Mary’s Parish in 1969. It is one of two primary schools serving the parish. It is funded by Swindon Borough Council but control of the school lies with the Governing Body acting as trustees on behalf of the Diocese of Clifton.

We cater for up to 210 pupils aged between four and eleven years of age. St. Catherine’s is highly regarded by its local community and has a well-earned reputation for its high academic and social expectations, and its caring, friendly approach to the children.

The school is a two-storey building surrounded by spacious grounds, comprising a very large sports field, a large playground, an Early Years’ covered play area, a conservation area/pond, a wooded area for the children to play in and a trim trail. There are seven classes, a large hall, a library/ICT room, a staff-room, a Sanctuary for the children and an administration section.
Ongoing plans will continue to improve the building’s design and aesthetic appearance and the classroom facilities.

St Catherine's Catholic Primary SchoolWithin our school all education is seen as a means whereby children may move towards a fuller understanding of God and His creations. From the outset our curriculum reflects our recognition of the value, dignity and uniqueness of each child. Our children are encouraged to appreciate and express their Faith, looking to Jesus as their example. They are encouraged to share their Faith in group, class or whole school gatherings.
They are taught to grow in the love of Christ and each other and to be aware of those less fortunate than themselves.

“Everyone matters” is the philosophy that permeates throughout the school, parish and community. It can be seen in the way the older children help to look after the younger children at lunch- time. The children fund-raise for a community in India which needs to build a doctor’s surgery and buy cows for milk. They have adopted a buffalo they named “Buffy”, which has been given to another village and recently they have volunteered to support two children in India who were orphaned in the tsunami and will support their education.
